The Hawaiian Poke (pronounced poh-keh) means to slice or to cut into small pieces or blocks. This simple dish, made by Hawaiians for centuries, was typically prepared with cubes of raw fish, sea salt, limu (seaweed) and ‘inamona (roasted, ground kukui nut)
Today Poke is made with a wide variety of ingredients that were introduced with the diversity of cultures that arrived in Hawaii. Some of these ingredients like onions, soy sauce, ginger and garlic are commonly found in many of todays’ Poke.
